Robyn and Ryan were the first engaged couple I was lucky enough to photograph. You may recognize them from my website. Those photos were snapped almost three years ago!! Fast forward three years of marriage and you get ... one of the most beautiful "expecting" couples. This was a fun session and they had so many great ideas.

Zach is the oldest. Growing up so fast. I love his hair.

Sometimes kids will give you a run for your money. This was Kaden's day to do that to me ... as referenced below.

Anthony is so naturally photogenic. He loved getting his picture taken, that is always a plus!

I loved his green band-aid too much to edit it out.

You may recognize these darling brothers from here. Well, they added a new baby and guess what .... It's a Boy! Welcome baby Teddy.

I loved taking these photos and adore the birth announcement. It was a 5x7 folded flap card. When closed the 5x5 flap featuring the three brothers closed and the "OH BOY" showed on the side. So cute!

I waited to share these photos of Ross until my sister and brother-in-law could get all of the announcements out. Note sure if they are all out, but I couldn't wait any longer. Indulge me ... it's a long post. His arrival was greatly anticipated by all of us, but especially Brian and Marisa.

His first name was my father's middle name and Ross' middle name is Marisa (and my) maiden name. Cool, huh! Without further aideu .... meet my new nephew Ross and his gorgeous big sister Ella.

Meet Christopher. These photos were taken to commemorate his middle school graduation - he looks way older than 8th grade. The whole time I was taking these I couldn't help but think about how fast me two are growing up. Although some days I can't wait until they go to sleep at night, I do secretly wish time would S - L - O - W down.

On a side note ... Christopher totally reminded me of a guy I went to high school with. I was amazed at how much they looked alike! So all you Carbon grads out there see if you can guess who I'm talking about.

So, I am as sick as I have been in awhile - Meaning I can't leave my house, play with the kids or come up with an excuse not to blog. So, here is a shoot from October!!! Meet the Beans ...

Tod has been a lifelong friend of Shay, they were "best man" at each others weddings, and find many humorous ways to subtly insult each other. Jenny and Tod met in college in Kansas, where she is from. When we met we instantly hit it off. We both came from close families, shared a lot of likes and both had a lot of patience (dealing with Tod and Shay, you have to.) She is one of those people that you don't have to see daily, but feel like you do. Does that make sense? If not, we shall blame it on the cold medicine.

These two have been with us on the happiest day - our wedding and births of each others children, and in the most dificult time - the passing of my dad and Shay's mom. It was my pleasure to capture this beautiful family that has meant so much to my family, for many, many years.

These cute kids, Corbin and Abby, belong to Shaunna - Drew's kindergarten teacher's aide. We had been planning to do this since the spring and FINALLY got around to doing it. So glad we did.

Happy Accident

Have you ever had one of those experiences when you think things are less then ideal, then BAM something great happens! When Annie asked me to take extended family pictures for her mom we didn't talk wardrobe or even decide on a location (until days before.)

The day before the shoot it rained all day and night. The morning of it was threatening and didn't begin raining until the shoot started. Then it really let loose!

We shot the whole session in literally 20 minutes, tops! And the yellow leaves with the black and gray color scheme ... a 'happy accident'!

Is it just me, or is he a dead ringer for Rob Lowe?

Krista called me back in August to purchase a gift certificate for her husband's birthday. We finally settled on a day and she called the day before panicked ... one of the two-year-old twins fell and needed stitches on his forehead. Due to the magic of photoshop you will never know which one it was. They were a really patient family, considering it may have been the busiest picture day of the year at Wheeler Farm. I have never seen so many photogs ... ever!

I'm so behind on blogging! This is my attempt to catch up:

This is my cousin Brooke and her fiancée Perry. We took these at the Utah State Fair on a Friday night. Probably the busiest night of its run. Not exactly prime photo shoot crowds. On a side note, I brought Drew along for the shoot. When we finished we went to the Mitchell Musso convert(from Hannah Montana fame) and the Rodeo. What a FUN night!

Brooke and Perry were really good sports - even though everyone was staring! Probably the best part of the whole shoot was looking through the photos which contained tons of crazies in the background. They aren't getting married until next year, so hopefully I will get many more opportunities to have them in front of the camera.

Love the bubbles? Some fair worker was selling bubble blowers so I asked kindly if he'd send them our way.

The Philips Families

This was a fun shoot for me both personally and professionally. These were five seriously cute kids. So friendly and happy to have their picture taken too! (A big bonus in my line of work)

On a personal note, I have known this family forever! I met them years ago (think early 80's ... gasp!) when Charlie and Janet built a convenience store in Wellington (Single Stop, frequented by many on their treks to Moab and Lake Powell.) My dad had known Charlie all the way back in Moab while they were in high school. I remember playing in all the construction boxes with Chris and Kevin and the McDougald boys, while the store, hotel, laundromat and car wash were being built!

Fast forward 10+ years ... I wound up going to high school with Chris and his future wife Kim and Kevin and his future wife Shanon. I also was able to say that my first "official" job was working as a cashier at Single Stop, or as we called it, and still do to this day, Charlie's.

I hate to ramble. I know you are thinking, "Get to the pictures, already!" But, I would be remiss if I didn't comment on how good the people are who come from our home, Carbon County. The Philips are a perfect example. Great people who have been friends to us all along, through business, personal joys and loss.

In short, I guess you can tell I like them.

These are the boys gorgeous cousins, Alexis and Sophie. I took Alexis' pictures before ... I think she liked me more this time. My proof? All the amazing pics she posed for. This was the first time I had met baby Sophie. Needless to say I was smitten. The brown eyes, the rolls, her porcelain skin ... I could go on. Or I could take her home. This post is sure to make you baby hungry.

I have two boys. I always thought if I had another it would be a boy, too. This little family with three boys made me think that wasn't a bad thing. Hands down the cutest boys ever. Especially little Henry, whom I could take home. I loved the interaction between them. I also adored their long hair - of course I am partial to boys with long hair!

With parents like these it is no wonder they have such beautiful kids!

The "real" moments are often my favorite. The middle boy was a crack-up!

This sneak peak is for Heather. The mom to this beautiful child. They have 3 boys and they are all this beautiful. I can call him beautiful, because I have two beautiful boys myself! I just wouldn't dream of telling them that. For the longest time my oldest would cry anytime someone would call him "handsome." He'd say "I don't want to be handsome, I want to be cute!" Now he just wants to be cool. Time flies!

It is my sister Genna's birthday. No, I will not disclose how old she is, although she is two years younger than me, so you do the math. My son asked how old she was and that's what I told him. His reply ... your 60, so how old is Genna then?

This is the rest of the Uzelac family and the Hall family. I have photographed the Hall girls before and was so happy when their sweet mother asked me to photograph her extended family. The two previous families, the Collets and the Watsons, are also part of the greater Uzelac familiy.

Seriously, I can say without reservation that this was the funniest family I have ever had the chance to work with. They were so happy and fun. They're attitude was infectious. This is Sara. She is Ryan's sister, or I guess you could say he is "her" brother. She has been a lifesaver for me this summer. She hangs out with my boys so I can actually breathe and finish my "other duties as assigned." She is only a sophomore! I know, right! Her parents should lock her up! Ryan - Juan Diego Senior

Ryan is a senior at Juan Diego High School. His mother was Drew's kindergarten teacher and we adore her. I was so excited to meet Ryan and snap his senior pics. He is a member of the baseball team, so it was fun to incorporate his passion into his session.

Did I mention that we got caught in a rain storm? Note the wet rain drops on his t-shirt.

This gorgeous baby, just six days old, is the daughter of my lifelong friend Heather. When I say lifelong, it's literal. Our parents have been friends for 40 years - and we were born just weeks apart - hence the lifelong friendship. Actually she and her family are just an extension of our family. They have been with us at the best of times and definitely at the worst of times. We are so blessed to have them in our lives.

Okay, here are the last of the remaining Stevens families. Such a fun group. Thanks for letting me capture your family. They are as nice as they are beautiful!

Love how they are ALL looking different directions! I can't get my two to look the same direction or smile at the same time. Love how honest this is and reflective of where they are all at. Cutest kids, and well-behaved too! Seriously!

This is my niece Ella. You may have seen her pictures here and here. She is a miracle child in so many ways. She was born a preemie, underwent a major surgery that took their family all the way back to a specialist in New York City and despite all of this ... she is beautiful, smart and pretty much the sweetest child ever.

She loves her cousins. They get so excited to talk to each other on the phone and really not more than a day goes by without them getting to see each other. Truly, they are more like siblings than cousins.

So Miss Ella on your 3rd birthday I dedicate an entire blog post devoted to you. Even if you didn't want your picture taken that day. I love you.

This is Ian and Kai. My friend's sons and friends of my boys, the words "Ian & Kai" are one word. Kind of like cookies and milk, you can't have one without the other. This fun photo shoot was filled with smiles, laughs and luckily no tears! On a sad note, this area was affected by the oil spill in Red Butte. I hope it can be restored quickly, it is so beautiful.

This is Emily.

Otherwise known as Drew's girlfriend.

Whenever anyone asks him if he has a girlfriend he has an automatic reply:
"Yes, her name is Emily. She lives by my Nana. She drives, too!"

Then I explain that Emily doubles as a family friend and the boys babysitter. Although, Drew would argue that girlfriend is her most important title. Drew loves her, Jake loves her, heck, we all love her. She seriously is the best girl! Love you Emily.

She is going to the U. in the fall and lucky girl ... she gets to work in my old haunt, the athletic department. She has a bright, bright future!

Loved this recent senior shoot. I had such a good time meeting Eryn, and she was such a good sport (she didn't complain once when I made her lay in the weeds!) She's a senior at Hillcrest High and is in the International Baccalaureate program there. Talk about a girl who's going places! Good luck at Elon next year!

This is Chloe. She is five months old and has the most amazing eyes! Darci and Nick went to school with my sister, and I was so happy they chose me to capture their baby girl. We took the pictures of Chloe indoors with low light, a challenge. I cranked up the ISO and am actually pretty pleased with the results.

I have known Mike forever. He was one of my bosses when I worked at the University of Utah in the Sports Information office. He has since moved on to bigger and better things, in fact you may even recognize his voice ... he is the Voice of the Utes on KALL 700. He does the play-by-play for the football and men's basketball teams. If you've heard him you know how good he is. It is so nice to see someone work hard, get what they deserve and be really great doing it!

Becky and Mike have been married almost two years, I think ... She is a wonderful person and it is evident to anyone that meets her how well she compliments Mike. Plus, she likes High School Musical as much as I do - how awesome is she!

We were so happy when they got married and were thrilled to find out they were expecting. Shay and I are so lucky to count them among are friends. It is so fun to watch them embark on the adventure of being parents. Without further adieu ...

Meet baby Ryne. He is named after Ryne Sandberg, his dad's favorite baseball player (mom's idea ... how cool is that!!!)

Unfortunately there are NO pictures of Francis, their Jack Russell Terrier. He pretty much hated me and my camera shutter. Every click he would bark. Aren't animals funny - I think he thought I was trying to hurt his new baby. Sorry Francis.

This post is huge! It should be because I haven't posted in SO long. This family was so fun. I went to their home to update family pictures and take so shots of new baby Ella. Big brother Jack wasn't so sure he wanted to partake in the fun, until he heard my elephant noises - what we will do to get a smile. :)

Wow! It has been forever since I posted. December flew by and was filled with lots of work (not complaining) and vacation (which is actually work, too.) These photos are of my niece Ella and her December/Christmas photo shoot. Also, the finished product, their Christmas card. More from December to come and a few from my mentoring with the fabulous Vanessa Millecam.

This was their Christmas card, it was a 5x5 square trifold, front and back - lovely! Design by SPDESIGN.

This is Jen and her darling family. Jen designs and makes the most fabulous appliqué baby/kids clothes called Ruby Moon. You can tell by their outfits she has amazing style.

Shooting in a full-blown snow storm was a new one for me. It was full of challenges: it was cold, snow was blowing sideways and there was really no shelter to shoot under. I also learned that my camera thinks it can focus on the falling snow.

Despite all of this, I really do LOVE how they turned out. They are definitely more candid, and I think its more of my shooting style. I was talking with a fellow photographer this week and expressed that I thought I was getting away from what made me fall in love with photography.

I found "it" again with these photos, I hope you love them as much as I do.

The "Beautiful" family

Leslie and her girls are good friends and neighbors of my friend Stephani. Steph told me that Leslie would be calling, she said "Oh you will LOVE them," She was right I did! They were so fun and such good sports, considering it was FREEZING!

Steph also said "they are the beautiful family", I think after seeing these, you'll agree.

This cute family belongs to my new friend Missy. She has five children, and yes .. twins. They are adorable and so well behaved. A large family deserves a BIG post.

This session was a tough one, filled with challenging lighting, losing light and camera malfunctions. After looking at these, you can't tell- the kids personalities pop from the pictures - enjoy!

Keeping up with the Jones'

Meet the Jones family. Lori is the cutest, most talented lady. I met her at a Glitter Toe party (sounds weird, I know) She does the best job and they last forever, if you want her number shoot me an email. Plus, she designed and made all the jewelry she and her girls are wearing.

We had scheduled this session two times, before our schedules and the weather cooperated. Some things are worth the wait!

I love this family shot! I love, love their clothes. It makes me happy to see Miss L and Miss G in their pink and red.

For whatever reason, I am loving the bw edits on this family.

Love the moodiness of this one, it totally matches him.

A Family First

You may recognize Robyn and Ryan from the "I DO" section on my website. I was fortunate enough to shoot their engagement/bridal shots last spring. This is Robyn's side of the family. They were so much fun to photograph. In addition to being a family filled with beautiful people, they are really funny! We laughed a lot!

My Sweet Sister

This is my sister Marisa, her husband Brian and their adorable two-year old Miss Ella. We picked the coldest day of the year, so far, to take these. Hopefully you can't tell that we were all freezing to death. Maybe that's why Ella didn't find me very funny that day :)

It's Great to be Eight ... (squared)

These TWIN eight year old boys are the sons of my forever friend JoLayna and her husband Bryan. These two are having a big day Saturday ... no, not Halloween, they are getting baptized. I had so much fun with them. Their personalities are as different as their eye color. That is the best part of photography, seeing the difference in people and trying to "capture" it. Plus, what is a photo shoot without a little Star Wars light saber battle!

First off, don't you love this family's style? This is my sister's brother-in-laws family, are you following me? I have know John forever, and am so lucky to have photographed his and Mika's gorgeous girls before. Mika is a designer - she was previously a flower designer, and I think she should be either an interior designer or a personal shopper. After seeing their style, I think you will agree.

I grew up with Heather and Ryan. This is the second time I have photographed their cute family. Here is a sneak peak of the boys - you may recognize Braden from my website. Jace may be the sweetest baby ever. I shot these during halftime of a Utah away game. This is funny because Ryan's dad was my biology teacher in high school ... and a huge BYU fan. Each year we exchange gifts and sometimes jabs before the BIG game - this tradition has spanned over 16 years. Dang, I should have dressed the boys in Utah gear and sent Grandpa a photo of the boys in red. Maybe next year ... for now, enjoy!

Oh, and I made it back home with 10 minutes still remaining in the 3rd quarter. Not bad!! Go UTES!

These adorable kids belong to my super friend Stephani. After these were taken she convinced me to go to an insta-care for my rapidly swelling finger. Come to find out, I have a nasty little staph infection. Okay, not so little ... three hospital visits, two doctors, collapsed veins, home heath nurses and a trip to radiology ... I now have a picc line and am the lucky recipient of of iv antibiotics every 12 hours. Thanks Steph for having such cute kids and for saving my finger. More of this session to follow, after I am off the painkillers ;)

I have been SO busy, I took these in July and just edited them. My camera and I have been on the outs, focusing issues! I still managed to grab a couple keepers from this 10 minute shoot (no joke!)

This is a very special family. As you can see from their photos, they are gorgeous and made my job really easy. More importantly, they were FUN and really good sports, because contrary to popular belief ... getting family photos pretty much ranks up there with visiting the dentist.
